That is true. A few dollars a month does not seem to be that much initially. But for someone like me who would send in a rebate for $1, just to net $0.58 cents, well, my measly $10 a month start to seem pretty good. Especially since that number is growing as I grow my archives. And blogging on my site has lead to a lot of free stuff from PR people (which I am enjoying immensely!).

I agree. When I first started blogging, I was thinking I was going to make money just b/c I put an Adsense script on my page. My content was weak and my traffic reflected it. I got rid of the adsense, ignored my numbers for a while, and concentrated on writing posts that were meaningful. My traffic is up, and the content speaks for itself. Not making any money yet, but I figure I can look into that after I start getting serious traffic.... one day.

$5 a day? Good thing you are running two blogs now, hopefully your income doubled to $10 a day. Just kidding. The problem with the whole monetization of blogs is that there are so many people online that brag about their earnings (John Chow for example) that people start blogging with only money on their minds.

Blogging is just like any other business venture, you will probably earn money one day just not right away. Believe me as much as I try to be patient there are days where you just wish your earnings would increase.
